Become A Volunteer.
KernYes has been successful for several years because of the dedication of the volunteer force. We are thankful for Rotarians and others who have spent their Saturday with an inspiring group of Kern County teens. Please consider joining us for this enriching and fruitful day of learning and personal growth. There are volunteer opportunities for an all day commitment as well as opportunities to assist for part of the day. Here are brief descriptions of the roles we need fulfilled.
*Chaperones: Early in the morning help to check in the participants at Kaiser Permanente Sports Complex. Then ride the bus with them to the venue, the Fort in Taft. You will Chaperone the dance after dinner. Then end the day on the bus ride with them back to the Sports Complex. This is an all day commitment. Since you are on site, you may as well volunteer to take on another spot!
*Counselors: There are 4 to 6 Counselors for each of four groups of participants. Counselors guide them through the four enrichment sessions lead by presenters, 2 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon. This is a crucial volunteer position and the one we most need. This is an all day commitment. A background check is required.
*Food Service: We all know how much teens can eat! We have volunteers help with food preparation and service of breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as keep the snack stations stocked. There are shifts available for these positions.
*Security: We just need to be sure no uninvited quests get on site and no teens leave unaccompanied.
*This and That: There are several miscellaneous tasks needing handled throughout the day. You could be a timer, a messenger, a courier of equipment, etc. It’s all important and all needed. There are shifts available for these positions.
